Reckless abandon, unbreakable resolve, bliss, tension, release… While the words themselves may not come to mind at a Connor Koz show, they would be felt by everyone in the room. These feelings become great memories, ones whose meaning escapes them… sitting right at the tip of their tongues. Connor treats his role in creating spaces such as these with reverence and positivity.
Taking nods from the furthest corners of American Roots music, Connor Koz gives listeners just enough familiarity to bring them in, and just enough mystery to keep them wanting more. His originals fill the gaps between an all but forgotten musical tradition and the struggles of modern American Life, serving as an invitation and unconditional acceptance of all who bring love through the door.
Connor has spent the last decade gaining experience and carefully curating his original sound. During his time playing guitar with Into The Fog, he could be seen on stages all around the east coast–Floydfest, Merle Fest, Grey Fox, IBMA, The Lincoln Theater, and many more. Connor’s solo shows include a variety of hard-hitting originals, and choice covers that range from the Grateful Dead to Tyler Childers.
With improvisation and experimentation at the forefront, every musical performance becomes its own act of defiance to the status-quo. Music is resistance through celebration. Music is also spirituality, and any room Connor Koz plays becomes a cathedral of celebration for the human condition.
You can find him playing with Asheville jamgrass outfit Coyote Rodeo, as well as some solo shows all over the southeastern US!
